Would you like to border a garden bed with a low, evergreen hedge? Or are you planning a fresh green planting along a garden path? Or are you looking for a border to the neighbouring property that does not grow skywards? Then we can recommend the mountain holly 'Glory Glm'. This ornamental shrub is one of the most beautiful alternatives to boxwood, which in recent years has been viewed with scepticism by many gardeners due to fungal infestation and boxwood borer. With its small, fresh green to rich green foliage, the mountain holly 'Glory Glem' looks amazingly similar to the boxwood, but its leaves are almost a bit more shiny and it is much more robust. And its upright, well-branched, bushy growth is perfect for all the tasks that were otherwise reserved for boxwood. So let the mountain holly 'Glory Glm', which we offer here in a package of 6 plants in a 1 litre pot, take on many decorative tasks in your garden right away!
Perfect for semi-shady to shady areas
The mountain holly 'Glory Glem' is not a friend of blazing sun and grows particularly well in partial shade to shady areas. It also wants a normally good, humus-rich soil, preferably in the neutral to slightly acidic range. In addition, you should always keep the roots of the ornamental tree sufficiently moist, as it comes from the rather humid mountain regions of Japan, China and Korea. On the other hand, the holly is absolutely winter-hardy and can easily tolerate minus temperatures of up to 35°C without damage.
Slow growing and pruning tolerant - ideal for
ideal also for smaller gardens
The evergreen shrub has no urge to grow quickly, but is content with an annual growth of only 5-15 cm. As the mountain holly 'Glory Glem' also tolerates pruning well, you can keep the borders at the ideal height for you. Or use one of the set as a decorative topiary shrub. But be careful: please do not cut into the old wood.
