Pyracantha coccinea Red Column' is a Pyracantha and is ornamental all year round. In spring it has racemes of creamy white flowers and in summer and autumn these turn into beautiful bright red berries. The small leaves are shiny, dark green and the branches bear long spines. Birds love this plant. In spring, they like to make their nest in the plant, while in winter they can safely hide in it. Birds also find the berries very tasty. It can grow against a wall or fence, but then it needs support to climb and will need to be tied down with wire. The plant grows like an ordinary shrub and is not self-adhesive. You can use it as a hedge, because it stays green in the winter.
